When you’re dealing with huge amounts of data, it’s a lot more efficient to have an index to find what you’re looking for. Essentially, that’s how Factom works. David Johnston explains.
“At a high level, what Factom does is provide a data layer on top of the Blockchain… when I say a data layer, I mean Factom enables people and companies to secure huge amounts of data—we’re talking millions or billions of records—publish them in Factom.”
Doing this, Factom leverages the security of the Blockchain for private data. Since going live in 2015, Factom has secured 100 million records.
